History of the NRN

The NRN launched in September 2015 with a highly successful showcase event. It contributed to the development of the EPSRC/Innovate UK Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, which resulted in the first call for robotics in extreme environments. Since then a small core group continued to discuss their common challenges and goals. This group has proposed to re-launch the network, with a wider reach and a renewed plan of action. The NRN will support the development and champion the industry end user, supply chain and academic requirements to help promote the adoption of robotics in the UK. The NRN member base of end users across a range of industry sectors will provide opportunities to form R&D collaborations, sharing risk and cost to overcome challenges within robotics and AI solutions.

In 2018 the Northern Robotics Network changed it’s name and now operates under the new name of National Robotics Network.
